What is the prostate?

The prostate is a gland that makes the fluid that comes out when men ejaculate. This fluid supports the sperm to fertilise a woman’s egg. The prostate sits at the base of the bladder, and surrounds the outlet of the bladder. Prostate function is influenced by the male hormone testosterone.
